I have been having some errors with Alfresco 5.0.d AWS image and looking through the logs I found it was because the Java version is 1.7 and Alfresco 5.0.d now requires 1.8.
This is an excerpt from the Alfresco documentation:
We intended this release to support Java 7 and Java 8, but we accidentally introduced into the Solr4 ■■■ a reference that only works in Java 8. If you must run with Java 7, you can compile this ■■■ yourself. See ALF-21333 for details. Note: It appears that running 5.0.d under Java 7 also produces a problem with Records Management. See ALF-21333.
Several Add-ons developed for Alfresco 5.0.d also require Java 8.
Below are the prerequisites from the Alfresco documentation:
DB: MySQL 5.6 or PostgreSQL 9.3.6
App Server: Tomcat 7.0.59
Java Version: JDK 8 (installer shipped with JDK 1.8.0_31)
How do I go about upgrading Java properly without losing any of the pre-existing configuration that has been done? Which package of Java should I use? JDK, JRE, Server-JRE?
