Windows 10 Update - No Servers

I recently updated Windows 10. I can no longer access site development via localhost. When I run the graphical tool service manager, under manage servers there are no longer servers listed to stop or restart. My original installation used the default ports, etc. for apache and MySQL. I am trying to understand what I have to do to get the servers back? Must I re-install Bitnami? Mark

I installed Bitnami on my external hd on windows 10, worked on a Wordpress site for a month. I changed pc, no servers show

Hi @meiden,

Could you please follow the next steps in order to install the services again?

Open the Bitnami Console

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/components/bnconsole/#windows

You can also find it at installdir/use_yourstack

Run the following command:

serviceinstall.bat REMOVE

It will probably close the Window, so open the console again and run this command:

serviceinstall.bat INSTALL

These steps will remove the services that were previously installed and will install the services again. Please open the manager again and check if you can manage the services now.

Thanks for the response. Finally got back to working with this. This did not work for me. In my case I have wampstack. No servers appear in the Manage Servers tab. Any other ideas?

Hi @meiden,

Could you please check if the services are installed in your system? In order to do so, you can open the properties.ini file at your installation folder. You will find the names of the services in that file. After that, please open the "Services" Windows tool and look for those service's names, are they there?

In case you can't find them, could you please follow these steps?

Open the Bitnami Console

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/components/bnconsole/#windows

Run the following commands and share a screenshot of the output with us.
```
cmd
serviceinstall.bat REMOVE
cmd
serviceinstall.bat INSTALL
```

Servers in bitnami wordpress stack is not showing up

These are in my INI file

mysql_unique_service_name=wampstackMySQL
apache_unique_service_name=wampstackApache

When I run serviceinstall remove or install (in caps) there is no output to the console at all.

The wampstackXXX services do not appear in the Windows 10 services tab.

BTW, before the windows update, everything worked as advertised...

Hi @meiden,

We detected some issues when upgrading to Windows 10 due to different causes. In order to know more information about the particular issue you are running into, could you please follow the next steps and share the obtained information with us?

1) Open the registry editor (check this if you need help)
2) Go to the following path and look for ConfigArgs key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampstackApache\Parameters

3) Go to the following path and look for ImagePath key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampstackApache

4) Go to the following path and look for ImagePath key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampstackMySQL

Could you share the values of these keys with us? A screenshot would be great

Could you also share your hosts file? You can find it at c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts.

These do not exist on my machine:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampstackApache
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wampstackMySQL

As for the hosts file, it appears to be just an example. I cannot upload a text file apparently, however these are the contents:

Hi @meiden,

You looked for those paths in the registry editor in Windows, right? We're going to try another possible solution. Could you please open the file at installdir/mysql/scripts/serviceinstall.bat? You will find a command to install the service there, could you please run that command inside a command prompt in Windows?

If the MySQL service doesn't appear after running that command, I suggest you install the latest version of Bitnami WAMP stack again and migrate your applications to that new installation.

Yes, I used regedit, and the entries for those services are not there. I will be traveling next 2 weeks, will try your suggestion when back. I was wondering if it could be a privelege issue, but I am admin so I do not understand how that could be the issue? Anyway, thx for your support. Will update with results.

OK, your suggestion did not work, had the same result as before. However, I decided to follow up on the admin privilege idea. I ran cmd.exe as administrator and then executed the commands again and it successfully re-installed the services. I do not understand why cmd.exe would need to be run as administrator when I AM administrator. Odd...

Guys, your assistance seems to have helped meiden, i would prefer you did a video tutorial on all that. I am facing similar problem after updating windows 10. Its a nightmare. Everything you tell me to try i do but cant seem to find solution.I even tried meiden's last trial and yet still...

Allow me to say that i could not understand everything since im not good with coding but i did try to migrate files after installing the bitnami wamp stack. Let me narrate my issue. I was using a brother's laptop to create my website while he was around. When i installed bitnami wordpress at first i made sure i use my external hard drive as the install path. This is where ive been launching the website data from. When bro left for abroad early last week, i thought i could use any pc since i had my install path on a portable disc. I bought a laptop this week, updated the windows 10 and upon trying to launch wordpress, i couldnt see my servers. I'm i at a dead end or how could i be saved from all this? who can i contact for my much needed and timely responses? somethings said above i cant even understand what they mean or how to go about it. help.

Hi @techforall,

If you need to move one installation from one server to another one, you will need to copy the files from the first machine to the second one but you must use the same path you set when installing the stack for the first time. So for example, if you installed the stack in E:\bitnami\wordpress-VERSION, you need to copy the files to that path in the new machine. Once you do that, you will need to install the services by following the steps in our guide.

@jota also i do not need to copy files from the first machine to the next simply bcoz it was installed on an external hard drive, i even changed the installation path to the same path during installation. But nothing worked. In your steps above, as i tried to compress, when it nearly completed a window popped up saying "file not found or no read permission" i closed using the ok button (i tried twice n it failed), i still tried with winzip, it still recorded error

Is the external drive mounted in the same path (D:\, E:\, ...) in both machines? If the drive is using the same path, try to install the services by running the command in the guide I shared above.

@michiel @jota as you can see, theres no error but only no servers and serviceinstall doesnt seem to do anything the cmd window pops up in a fraction of a second i can barely see the results of the install or unistall. Thanks for your help.
