Thanks for responding Jota,
I have followed the documentation as best I can and have made some progress.
I want to install SemanticMediaWiki for testing and development on the MediaWiki installation that is running at http://localhost/mediawiki/index.php.
I have installed "intellij Idea" IDE which has a CLI which works fine.
I have installed composer
I have downloaded SMW and the files are in the /vendor/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki directory
I ran php maintenance/update.php and that seemed to work as i got the following messages
./composer.json has been updated Loading composer repositories with package information Updating dependencies Writing lock file Generating autoload files
So the next step is to put enableSemantics( '18.104.22.168' ); or with ('Localhost')
I put "include_once("$IP/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki/SemanticMediaWiki.php"); "
in to LocalSettings and this, at least does not cause Localsettings to crash.
Anyway I try enableSemantics, Ie with the IP address or with localhost, putting it in Localsettings.php stops Localsettings from functioning.
Perhaps the SemanticMediaWiki directory should be in
/htdocs/extensions or even htdocs/vendor/
I have also tried to use $enableSemantics
So the short question is , why does 'enableSemantics( 'localhost' ); not initialise SMW?
Sorry to be so long winded about this.
