Keywords: Cassandra - Virtual Machines - How to - CredentialsDescription: I use the Cassandra ova under vmware pro station. I can login using the bitnami user but I don't see any password for the cassandra user. How can I find it? Or is it the cassandra user?
The Cassandra password is randomly generated during the first boot of the VM for security reasons. You can find more information about how to retrieve your password in our guide at https://docs.bitnami.com/virtual-machine/infrastructure/cassandra/get-started/first-steps/#what-credentials-do-i-need
In case you missed the password message and you didn't modify it, it will be shown again on every boot above the login prompt. Also, you can find it by reading the bitnami_credentials file present in the home directory for the bitnami user.
Hope it helps,Gonzalo
Hi @gongomgraFor some reason the password was not showing in the boot sequence when first started(maybe because an error about not being able to configure the network card?). I picked the password from the credential file(which I didn't see in the help pages, probably I didn't look long enough ).Thanks a lot for helping with the info.
Nice! I'm glad you could find the password
I will contact our documentation team for them to update our docs to mention the bitnami_credentials file.
