Thanks for your reply. I should have been more detailed about "outside Bitnami".
I meant where the Bitnami modules and stacks are all contained in:
I wanted to know if I could put htdocs and mysql data in a different directory for example:
Initially before posting my searches in these forums and on google didn't give me any info.
Then today I changed my search terms in google and granularized a bit and found Bitnami documentation on doing just that!
I went through the process with it and it worked!
I like the Wordpress stack, it's simple and it works! However what I really need to do is to be able to sync local development between two or more machines for example an office desktop and a portable laptop either copying the files manually or using a sync app like dropbox however I didn't want to have to sync the development environment, just the data and web files.
I found documentation which talked about taking for example the Wordpress stack or WAMP stack from one machine and zipping it up and deploying it on another machine as long as the directories etc were the same. It also explained how to run the service installer batch file so the services could be duplicated. I ran into a problem however with the service installer when I got an error "The program can't start because vcruntime140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.". Since the idea was not to have to install on the 2nd computer I had to find out what the fix to that problem was. Since that is outside the scope of this topic I will post that separately. Anyway the data sync'd up fine and so far this scenario is working!
So all in all Bitnami a GREAT set of products, excellent documentation also! Thanks!
