I received an email from marketplace.aws on an update of WordPress Certified by Bitnami and Automattic/5.6.1-0 on Debian 10.

I would like to know is it necessary for me to do the update?
If yes, how do I update my live site instance?

I see the doc is bout upgrading WordPress.

How about upgrading the PHP version?
My Lightsail WordPress currently running on PHP ver 7.3.14. I see the latest PHP ver is ver 8?
I've come across this doc (https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/how-to/migrate-wordpress/) explaining the process of migrating data of WordPress to WordPress of the latest PHP version.
I've tried creating new Lightsail instance with App + OS, it is still using PHP 7.3.14.

Hi @hs.khoo,

The AWS team in charge of upgrading the images takes some time to publish them. We send the new images on every release, but they are taking longer than expected to release them. We recommend you using the EC2 instances, where the latest images are already published. You can get more information in the next link

Additionally, you can launch a new regular server in AWS Lightsail without any Bitnami installation, and manually install the latest installer on it. After that, you can migrate your application data to the new instance.
