Unable to update WordPress plugins without permission issues

Description:
Hi there

Have been searching through forum posts and trying various solutions for weeks but cannot seem to find the root cause of the issue.

Whenever I try to update a WP plugin, I get the following warning “Update failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.”.

I run 20+ WordPress instances on AWS Lightsail and this one has me stuck. ANy insight would be very helpful.

You can reset the app’s permissions by following the instructions of this other post

Sudo find /opt/bitnami/wordpress/ -type d SKIPS wp-content and subfolders?

Here’s is what I am thinking for the final solution, correct? sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /opt/bitnami/wordpress sudo find /opt/bitnami/wordpress -type d -exec chmod 775 {} \; sudo find /opt/bitnami/wordpress -type f -exec chmod 664 {} \; sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /bitnami/wordpress sudo find /bitnami/wordpress -type d -exec chmod 775 {} \; sudo find /bitnami/wordpress -type f -exec chmod 664 {} \; sudo chmod 640 /bitnami/wordpress/wp-config.php

Hi @priyanka.saini. As you can see, there is not any bitnami folder there so the loop is caused by the plugin. You have 2 options here: Move the wp-content folder and remove the symlink sudo mv /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content.back sudo mv /bitnami/wordpress/wp-content /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content You can remove the /opt/bitnami/wordpress/wp-content.back folder if everything goes fine Or contact the plugins developers so they are aware of this iss…
