Describe here your question/suggestion/issue (expected and actual results):
Recently my phpmyadmin application was not working and to fix it I tried so many things that I believe i have screwed my phpmyadmin setup. I even tried to following steps to reconfigure the phpmyadmin setup but even that keeps failing at the step of trying to remove the phpmyadmin database. Overall I think I have messed up my phpmyadmin setup and would really like some help/guidance on how i can remove my current phpmyadmin setup and create a new one. Even if there is a manual procedure to delete the DB, files/directories i can do so, because most of the command line ways of remove phpmyadmin are running into error. Please note rest of LAMP setup is working absolutely fine. I can access and use my application and I am able to access the database from command prompt. So only issue is with phpmyadmin not working.
Steps to reproduce the issue (if relevant): sudo apt-get purge phpmyadmin, sudo dpkg-reconfigure phpmyadmin.
Copy the apache log (if relevant):
The error message I get is:
An error occurred while removing the database:
│ /opt/bitnami/mysql/bin/mysql.bin: unknown variable
│ For some reason it was not possible to perform some of the actions
│ necessary to remove the database for phpmyadmin. At this point you have
│ two options: you can find out what has caused this error and fix it, or
│ you can refuse the offer for help removing the database (the latter
│ implies you will have to remove the database manually).
/opt/bitnami/mysql/bin/mysql.bin: unknown variable 'defaults-file=/tmp/dbconfig-common_my.cnf.O9TQ9R'.
unable to connect to mysql server.
Automatic configuration using dbconfig-common failed!
