Unable to change the hostname using bitnami configure_app_domain

Description:
See https://docs.bitnami.com/virtual-machine/faq/configuration/use-bnconfig/

When I run sudo /opt/bitnami/configure_app_domain --domain mail.example.com and reboot, the hostname does not change. It still says “ip-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX” when I type in “uname -h”.

How do I change the hostname of the machine?

I’m on debian. So to change the hostname I also had to change /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts. After making this change and after a reboot, the hostname was reported properly by the machine.

But now I’m unclear as to the purpose of the bitnami 'configure_app_domain" tool. Can someone please clarify?

Hi @stevied,

We have a Support Tool that will gather relevant information for us to analyze your configuration and logs. Could you please execute it on the machine where the stack is running by following the steps described in the guide below?

Please note that you need to paste the code ID that is shown at the end.
