Is it possible to setup a connection using Standard TCP/IP over SSH in workbench to connect to mySQL just like how you would with something like PUTTY?
I posted this previously, but the link you told me to go didn't go anywhere.
Thanks for using Bitnami. Just to clarify, what you are looking for is connecting from a client machine to you MySQL server, through the SSH tunnel, is that correct?
Workbench specifically. Might want to do a tutorial on just that, think lots of folks probably use it :-).
Just create ssh tunnel, as described here and use the local address and the local port of the tunnel to connect.
Through Putty? Or apply what I see in putty to Workbench under Standard TCP/IP over SSH? I am not trying to access phpmyadmin. I am trying to go through 3306 and SSH for mySQL WorkBench.
In this case you use Putty to create a tunnel directly for MySQL. For this you use <your-server>:3306 as the destination port, and another port of your choice (> 1024) as the source port.
Then you tell workbench to connect to localhost:<chosen-port>.
