Keywords: WordPress - AWS - How to - Other
My original site was attacked with malware. I since moved to AWS and redid the site afresh but unfortunately it was hacked within 24 hours again. I have stopped that instance.
The site I redid used the Avada Theme, I made use of no additional plugins. There was no contact form. It had 3 pages and was hacked the minute the dns propagated. The fist sign is a new admin user so I am presuming that entrance is through wp-admin.
I have set up a new instance and would like to install Akeeba Admin Tools as a security measure. The plugin does not appear to be taking effect as it needs to write to the htaccess file. I have read the documentation regarding the htaccess file but it is above my level of understanding.
Please can you advise on how I can make use of this plugin if it requires htaccess. How can I work around it. If you can advise on how to protect / harden the wp-admin area.
