ResourceSpace to use RDS database

Hi,
I recently lit up a Resourcespace server using your toolset. Thank you for that, it was super easy! My previous server used an RDS database instance and I would like to connect my Bitnami RS server to that db. Would you be able to help me with that?

After configuring the RS config.php file, I am getting timed out when trying to attach to the db. I even tried manual connection using the mysql command line - same issue, just a time out. I added the ip address of my server instance to the security zone at RDS but no joy.
I’d appreciate any help you can offer, thanks!

Hi,

Could you check that you can access with your server to the database? If you get a timeout error it is clear there must be something wrong in your firewall settings.

This could help you: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/Overview.RDSSecurityGroups.html

Thanks for your reply. I have attempted to connect to the RDS instance using the mysql command line after adding the ip to a security group with no success. Are there firewall settings I can manage on the Bitnami instance? Any tools for doing that?
Thanks again!
Tom

Hi,

The firewall rules must be configured in the AWS control panel. If you continue having timeout errors, my advice is to directly ask AWS Support

https://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/

Hope it helps.

The problem turned out to be a DNS issue. When I use the ip address of the RDS instance, it connected as expected.

Hi,

Good to know! If you come across any other issue, please let us know
