I am trying to get access to my Drupal MySQL database on a Google Cloud instance. The password in the settings didn't work.
I tried to reset it using the instructions here: https://docs.bitnami.com/oci/infrastructure/mysql/administration/change-reset-password/
I can start and stop the server with these instructions, but the database still denies me access.
I see this when running mysqld_safe:
[ERROR] Can't read from messagefile '/usr/share/mysql/errmsg.sys'
Wonder if this has anything to do with it?
After looking at this issue: https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=69677
I found that I had to remove this line from the mysql .cnf file:
lc-messages-dir = /usr/share/mysql
That worked and I was able to get the database info I was after using the query here https://kitt.hodsden.org/programming_articles_tips_and_tricks/mysql_tricks_and_tips/mysql_output_query_file
And using the "download file" option from Google Cloud.
The root's password to access MySQL is the same one we configure when booting the instance
You can also use the credentials that are set in the Drupal's configuration file to access the database
