Well, I think X-Cart forum is the place where many eyes are monitoring the issues, not only our own engineers, but also 3rd party developers, looking for clients, so you're more likely to receive reply fast.
X-Cart support HelpDesk is place where you're communicating directly to a support engineer. Free support is available, but the expect reply time may be longer, and not all issues are covered with it ( say, deep investigation on the client's server is available within paid support only, also, urgent issues troubleshooting aka "hotrush", probably via skype, is a commercial service too).
This community, as well as questions on other websites, external for X-Cart team, are monitored too ( by means of Google Alert, for example), but they can be missed or, say, not indexed by Google and hence never seen by us.
Yet, we're doing our best to keep an eye on everything around X-Cart =)
