Here I read:
"If you require a persistent public IP address that can be associated to and from instances as you require, use an Elastic IP address instead."
This is m external DNS hostname:
Public DNS (IPv4) ec2-54-144-243-201.compute-1.amazonaws.com
I reach my aws instance from my Cloudways server using the IP address via ssh:
ssh -N -L 3000:127.0.0.1:5984 -i /home/master/.ssh/bitnami-aws-998353243413.pem email@example.com
I don't understand the point of an external DNS hostname, So is my IP address is subject to change? So I must go this route:
Elastic IP Addresses
Then I read here:"If you're associating an Elastic IP address with your instance to enable communication with the internet, you must also ensure that your instance is in a public subnet. For more information, see Internet Gateways in the Amazon VPC User Guide." I start reading the link:
Wow, I figured choosing a static IP would be one simple step. I'm an application guy on a steep learning curve.
Thanks for your help.
