Keywords: LAMP/MAMP/WAMP - AWS - Technical issue - Connectivity (SSH/FTP)
I think I've made a big mistake while trying to create a new SFTP account for my Lightsail LAMP (bitnami) setup. The problem is that since changing some stuff in the sshd_config file, I can't log in with my standard bitnami and key. When I check port 22 on the IP address I see it is closed but the apache/httpd server works fine (websites are up). I also can't use the build-in SSH client in AWS Lightsail.
I'm not sure which change started the issue but it's probably either instructions on these 2 links:
I've already tried some stuff with duplicating the instance with a start-up script and attempting to "reinstall" ssh access but nothing works. What is the best way too gain access to my server again or somehow get the data from the server so I can create a new fresh instance.
Also, I tried to use the following startup scripts when creating a new Lightsail instance:
mv /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.archived
apt-get remove --purge openssh-server
apt-get remove --purge openssh-sftp-server
apt-get remove --purge openssh-client
apt-get install openssh-server
apt-get install openssh-sftp-server
apt-get install openssh-client
Still, when trying to connect it doesn't work.
Any ideas? I'd be extremely happy if someone has an answer.
