Keywords: WordPress - AWS - How to - Permissions
I use Lightsail with AWS and have uploaded a Wordpress instance. I am a beginner and will just start the thread with the fact that I have tried searching for the forum for the answer but did something wrong.
I receive the following error while updating WordPress:
The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. this is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/includes/update-core.php
What have I done?
I found this thread:
And followed the steps that the solution provided:
sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/blog
sudo chmod -R g+w /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/blog
sudo chmod 640 /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs/blog/wp-config.php
What did wrong?
I didnt have the same path lengths as in this solution, so I choosed to take my own paths from Filezilla:
sudo chown -R bitnami:daemon /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-admin/includes
sudo chmod -R g+w /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-admin/includes
sudo chmod 640 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-config.php
- Now I got this enourmous error instead, with the same basic problem: https://imgur.com/a/1AyVmoG
My question is how do I restore to the original (If this affects the security of the website) and how do I solve the original problem with permission struggle of updating wordpress?
Thank so much in advance.
