My plan was to use the Bitnami ami to launch instances into an autoscaling group with a couple of command line instructions for additions but if there is no package.json this will be impossible. Essentially, every instance that I have launched has no package.json. This means I cannot do an npm update or do an npm install of another package. What I want to do is add Twilio, node-schedule and react. I would also like to be able to update my parse server and dashboard when updates come out.
The exact steps I did was were line for line with the first reply of this post - (https://community.bitnami.com/t/attempt-to-upgrade-aws-parse-server-from-parse-2-6-1-to-current-ending-in-package-json-error/56546). After that I could access the parse dashboard login page but nothing past that (I would get signed in with my credentials but then get a blank white screen). The next thing I tried was to copy the package.json from parse server for the version running on the instance (3.3.0). Then I tried doing an npm install of Twilio but I got the exact same result after logging into my dashboard. Finally, I ran npm init -y on another new instance and then tried npm install for Twilio and again got the same result. The support tool was ran on this last instance.
This seems like a pretty serious issue. It seems like my plan of launching into an autoscaling group will be impossible without a package.json. I'm going to have to make significant changes to each instance that is launched which is super frustrating. Please let me know if you have any ideas.
