We have been using OpenEDX on a t2.medium server AWS for some time now. We faced several challenges while settingup OpenEDX and Bitnami Community has been kind to us towards solving the all the problems we faced.
One of the problem that we have been facing, which is still not resolved, is at times while browsing the domain assigned to OpenEDX server, the server returns 500 internal server error. Restarting all the services from the server resolved the 500 internal server error. This issue keeps occurring every 2 or 3 days.
Code used to restart all the services :
sudo /etc/init.d/bitnami restart
And sometimes, the OpenEDX server completely stalls not allowing us to ssh into the server. At that time, we need to completely reboot the server from the AWS Console. There have been 3 instances when the server was completely stalled.
Is it possible that the t2.medium server is unable to deliver all the computing power needed to run OpenEDX? Do we need to migrate the OpenEDX image to a higher server capacity?
Any insights on this would be really appreciable.
I will paste the apache error logs the next time we face 500 internal server error.
