Did you modify the database before running into the password issue? I'd like to know if you imported the database from another machine or start to use a different database before getting the credentials error.
Apart from that, did you make any change in the application that can be causing the problem? We have a Support Tool that will gather relevant information for us to analyze your configuration and logs. Could you please download and execute it on the machine where the stack is running by following the steps described in the guide below?

Can you elaborate this? Why do you want to remove the default database? Do you have a different database that you want to use with the application?
