I hate to admit this, but I don't know what I'm doing, and I don't want to make a collosal mistake.
I've installed Discourse (via Amazon), and everything has been running fine during testing, except that I must have botched up the email settings during setup, and I can't figure out how to fix it.
I believe it's pointing to gmail because my email address is on google apps for business. But, I don't know if I missed something, but "example.com" obviously won''t work.
Maybe I need to hire someone to help - if that's the case, is it possible to find someone through the community?
Here's what I've already tried:
1. I've connected through SSH via putty (I'm able to connect alright, but I honestly don't have any idea what to do once it's connected)
2. I've set up an account with Sparkpost.com so that I can send through them, instead of via gmail
3. I've read a zillion posts and suggestions, but I'm stuck very early on (not understanding how to configure the settings.
I'm using the mandrill settings for reference, as they seem to be very similar to sparkpost.
And this is where I show how much of a newbie I am... I don't understand how to get to a place where I can change / alter these settings.
Below you can find an example of the Mandrill configuration settings that you should
set in the "installdir/apps/discourse/htdocs/config/discourse.conf" file:
smtp_address = "smtp.mandrillapp.com"
smtp_port = 587
smtp_domain = your_domain.com
smtp_user_name = 'your_email_registered_at_mandrill'
smtp_password = 'any_mandrill_api_key_in_your_account'
smtp_enable_start_tls = true
authentication = login
enable_starttls_auto = true
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks ~ Loralee
