Could you please try installing
sudo apt-get install ntpdate
Another option is to use the time used by the server of Google so as not to install any packages that may be of use. Keep in mind this only sets the time once and doesn't use a cron to check the server's time periodically:
sudo date -s "$(wget -qSO- --max-redirect=0 google.com 2>&1 | grep Date: | cut -d' ' -f5-8)Z"
