There are multiple migration documents relating to a Moodle stack migration:
Both apparently editing on the same date but with vastly differing instructions.
The intended path is to migrate from an old VMware VM instance (approach B) to a new VMware VM instance (approach A). There seems to be no clear and decisive way on how to achieve this goal.
In the vmware docs, it talks about just copying the moodledata folder. In the general docs it talks about copying both the moodledata folder and the htdocs folders
In the vmware docs, in "Import The Database", it talks about manually deleteding the DB, but goes on to say "After that, import the database. You can do it manually or using phpMyAdmin." How? On either front?
In the vmware docs, in "Substitute Moodledata/ (And Other) Directories" it talks about, er, I don't know what... Is this supposed to suggest that the folder need to be restored, if so which ones and to where?
In the general docs in "Step 3: Copy The Files From The Old Instance To The New One", it talks about copying folders from the old instance. In can see that
moodledata will map to
moodledata, but I guess
htdocs (approach B) maps to
moodle (approach A) when restoring?
Would be good to get clarification on all of this.
