MediaWiki internal error

Suddenly, when I wnated to start my private Wiki I got the message that there is a 'MediaWiki internal error'. As suggested I modified the LocalSettings.php by adding the following line at the end: $wgShowExceptionDetails = true;
After a restart I get this: Error from line 1380 of D:\Mijn documenten\BredaWiki\apps\mediawiki\htdocs\includes\libs\rdbms\loadbalancer\LoadBalancer.php: Cannot access the database.

Any suggestions?

Did you change any other configuration files or install any plugins or themes? We have a Support Tool that will gather relevant information for us to analyze your configuration and logs. Could you please execute it on the machine where the stack is running by following the steps described in the guide below?

Hi there,

I didn't change a thing, although there was an update of windiows 10 recently... I don't know if this is related to the problem at hand.
Furthermore, I notice in the Stack Manager tool that the MySQL database serves has stopped and I can't restart it.

The Apache error log has the following error:

[Sun Apr 12 16:47:00.571538 2020] [core:error] [pid 10784:tid 1260] (20024)The given path is misformatted or contained invalid characters: [client 192.168.178.45:60568] AH00127: Cannot map GET /wiki/index.php/Sjabloon:References HTTP/1.1 to file, referer: http://192.168.178.192/wiki/index.php?title=Sjabloon:References&action=edit

There seems to be an issue with the colon : character because it is interpreted by Windows as a symbolic link. I found more information regarding this issue in the following page:

I recommend asking in a dedicated Mediawiki forum as it does not seem related to the Bitnami configuration.

There's one other thing that changed recently.
The IP-adress of my Wiki shifted from 192.168.178.192 to 192.168.178.194.
I don't know why or how the change from a dynamic to a static IP-adress, but the error messages still refers to the old IP-adress. Could this be the reason for the internal error? And if so, how can I change the IP-adress for Apache as well?

Hi @twanvandenbroek,

You need to reconfigure the IP the application uses, which is still the old IP. This can be done by updating the $wgServer value in `/opt/bitnami/mediawiki/LocalSettings.php to the new IP value:

$wgServer = '//NEW_IP';

And then restart Apache:

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart apache

I already updated the IP-adress in LocalSetting.php and then it seemed to work. A week later I got the eroor message.

In the Bitnami MediaWIki Stack the MySQLDatabase has stopped and I cannot restart. I stopped and restarted Apache WebServer, but the problem is not solved

Hi @twanvandenbroek,

The bnsupport tool does not show any errors. Can you try starting mysql using the command line?

To do this on Windows you need to use the bitnami environment. In the installation directory there is a file called use_mediawiki . Click that, and then execute the following commands:

cd mysql/bin
.\mysqld --console

And then tell me the output?

I tried, but am not use on the password I should use.
Should it be the password under $wgDBpassword?

Then I get this reply: "ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)"

The MySQL root password is the password you entered during the installation.

Hi,

First I entered the command "cd mysql/bin". Then I entered the command "/mysqladmin -p -u root password NEW_PASSWORD" with NEW_PASSWORD my preferred new password.

I get the following reply:
"Enter password: ***********.
After I insert the new password I get:
"mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)'
Check that mysqld is running on localhost and that the port is 3306.
You can check this by doing 'telnet localhost 3306"

If I use the command ".\mysql -uroot -p" and enter the new password I get the same error message as before (ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

Hi @twanvandenbroek,

Let's confirm something first:

Is the database running when you are trying to log in to the database? You can open the manager tool included inside the installation directory to confirm this
Are you loading the Bitnami environment before running the MySQL's commands?

Once you load the console, let's get the MySQL's binary it's going to use

where mysql
where mysql.exe

Try to login to the database now, the password should be the one you set during the installation process

mysql -u root -p

If you can't connect to the database, let's try to reset the password again

You don't need to generate the mysql-init file in tmp, you can use C:\ or any other path.

Let us know if that works for you. If you find errors, can you share a screenshot of the error?

Hi,

No, the MySQL database is not running. Nor can it be restarted using the manager tool
And with respect to your second question: if you mean if I tried to open my Wiki using my browser, the answer is no.

When I run the command 'where mysql' I get the following reply: 'D:\Mijn documenten\BredaWiki\mysql\bin\mysql.exe'

The I run the commands 'cd mysql/bin' and 'mysql -u root -p' I must fill in the password. I tried every combination I can think of, but the I get the following reply 'ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)'

When I try to follow the instructions to reset the password, I skipped the first command (as you suggested). After giving the second command (sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop mariadb) I get the following reply: '
D:\Mijn documenten\BredaWiki\mysql\bin>sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop mariadb
'sudo' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.'

PS Is it also possible for you guys to help me by taking over control remotely?

Hi @twanvandenbroek,

if the database is not running, it's normal you can't access the database. Let's try to get more information.

Open the manager tool and try to start the database. Just to confirm, is the MySQL service listed there?
Does any error appear in the "Server Events" tab?
Open the MySQL's log (D:/Mijn documenten/BredaWiki/mysql/data/mysqld.log) file and check if there is any error there. Can you find sth?
Open the command line and move to the mysql/bin directory and let's try to start the database again

cd "D:/Mijn documenten/BredaWiki/mysql/bin"
mysqld --console --verbose

Do you get any error? Does the command keeps running without returning to the command line again? If it keeps running, that means that the database is running too. Can you open a new terminal and try to log in to the database?
