I've had an install of the Bitnami WordPress stack on an Amazon EC2 server for about a year. I now need to add a second database, that does not run on the local EC2 server. I've spun up this 2nd db on RDS, and have placed it into the same virtual private cloud as the EC2 server. I can successfully connect to the db while using SSH to connect to the EC2 server, without issue.
The problem is I need to be able to connect the existing PHPMyAdmin install, which is running on the EC2 server, with this second db on RDS. I've followed several documents claiming that adding the second server is as simple as adding the following fields (taken from https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/how-to/migrate-database-rds/):
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['verbose'] = 'Amazon RDS';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] = 'xxxxxx.xxxxxx.us-gov-west-1.rds.amazonaws.com';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['port'] = '3306';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['socket'] = '';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['connect_type'] = 'tcp';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['extension'] = 'mysqli';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['AllowNoPassword'] = false;
These fields were added to the config.inc.php file located within /opt/bitnami/apps/phpmyadmin/htdocs directly under the line:
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['tracking_add_drop_database'] = true;
After saving these changes, when I go to mysite.com/phpmyadmin to login, there's no second db listed. Just the standard authentication fields for the default WordPress db that came as part of the initial WordPress stack.
How can I create a link from PHPMyAdmin to this second database installed on RDS?
