Hello @nessyess,

We are in the process of updating PHP to 7.4.9 right now.

Our latest WP version (5.5) ships PHP 7.4.8.
https://bitnami.com/stack/wordpress/installer.

We have submitted the updated packages to AWS Lightsail, but they are still in the process of publishing them to the marketplace.

To run the latest WordPress version, you can use the AWS Marketplace, the Bitnami Launchpad for AWS or install the latest version on top of a running Lightsail instance

  • Start a new instance with the previous version of WordPress in Lightsail and run these commands
sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop
sudo rm -rf /opt/bitnami
cd /tmp
curl -LJO "https://downloads.bitnami.com/files/stacks/wordpress/5.5-0/bitnami-wordpress-5.5-0-linux-x64-installer.run
chmod +x ./bitnami-wordpress-5.5-0-linux-x64-installer.run
sudo ./bitnami-wordpress-5.5-0-linux-x64-installer.run --prefix /opt/bitnami
  • Access the application now

I hope it helps

Hmmm how log do you think it will take for 7.4.9 to be out?

PHP 7.4.9 was released some days ago so the next WordPress release will include it. That will happen when a new version of WordPress appears or in 40 days in case no new version is released. We perform maintenance release of our solutions every 40 days.

If you want to use PHP 7.4.9 right now, you can follow a similar process to the one @davidg mentioned but installing the LAMP 7.4.9 solution

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop
sudo rm -rf /opt/bitnami
cd /tmp
curl -LJO "https://downloads.bitnami.com/files/stacks/lampstack/7.4.9-0/bitnami-lampstack-7.4.9-0-linux-x64-installer.run
chmod +x ./bitnami-lampstack-7.4.9-0-linux-x64-installer.run
sudo ./bitnami-lampstack-7.4.9-0-linux-x64-installer.run --prefix /opt/bitnami

And deploy WordPress on top of it later by following this guide

https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/infrastructure/lamp/administration/create-custom-application-php/

Happy to help!
