I have a question about migrating my Joomla! website from current cpanel hosting account into AWS.
I have done some research on how to set up an EC2 LAMP stack, set up a CDN such as cloudfront or cloudflare, and use ss3 for user data storage.
My site is going to have several subdomains with each subdomain being an independent site with own database and EC2 instance.
I herd about Bitnami through my research and this platform is exactly what I was looking for!
I see that this platform can provide a medium to interact with AWS and set up EC2 instances without having expert sysadmin skills.
I do not mind paying for the cloud hosting service so I can receive support and get help maintaining and setting everything up properly for a production site.
So therefore I suppose my first question would be do any of you guys have experience migrating a production Joomla! site into AWS through Bitnami cloud hosting service???
Of course migrating to a new platform will require a learning curve, but was just trying to get some input from the community as to their experiences with Joomla! on AWS with Bitnami Cloud Hosting service.
I see that I can quickly deploy a quick fresh install of Joomla! instance on AWS with Bitnami, but need to be sure that I can migrate a full production site through this same platform.
For the Joomla! savvy users on here I'm sure you guys have used Akeeba backup and restore component that can also be used to migrate sites into new environments that do not have fresh install of Joomla! and are completely blank.
It has a self contained installer and uses a "kickstart" php script to run restore and install of entire site onto same host server or new host server.
I was just wondering if the LAMP stack set up through this platform for Joomla! was something special or if the one click app to cloud was simply just setting up a fresh install of Joomla! to cloud hosting.
With that said would migration work by simply uploading the Akeeba backup file with the kickstart.php script as you would a cpanel environment or would I have to manually setup sql database and then ftp website into "htdocs" folder or as in cpanel the "public_html" folder???
Does the Bitnami cloud hosting platform allow users to easily upload databases and ftp website files and folders into the "htdocs" and then how about configuring external email servers, updating mx entry records, setting up cron jobs, updating DNS etc???
I am very comfortable with a cpanel environment and want to know what this platform can do for me and what it can't do for me.
Does it have support for all of these things that I need?
Long post, I know, but I really need the inside scoop from users who have a successful Joomla! production site hosted on this platform so I can experiment and test migrating to this platform and run a successful AWS/bitnami hosting solution.
