I have recently installed and configured a Bitnami Joomla server for our intranet site, yesterday I created a form using "Form Maker Lite" as part of the form I want the submit button to email the form. I am having issues getting the site to send an email.
Server Info: Debian Joomla 3.7.4 running on virtual Hyper-V server as an intranet site.
I am trying to setup mailing from our intranet site via SMTP and our MS Exchange 2012.
**Error: SMTP connect() failed**
The intranet server can ping the exchange server on port 25, I have confirmed the exchange server is using port 25 with the server administrator.
I have reviewed the access_log and error_log
Send Mail: Yes
Disable Mass Mail: No
From Email: Myname@ourdomain.com
From Name: My Name
SMTP Host: Exchange IP Address ( and FQDN) I have tried both
SMTP Port: 25
SMTP Security: SSL/TLS
SMTP Authenication: Yes
SMTP Username: firstname.lastname@example.org (I have also tried DOMAIN\username)
SMTP Password: My password
Send test email fails : SMTP connect() failed
Test Mail could not be sent.
I have also changed the php.ini and removed the ';" for extensions php_openssl.dll and php_sockets.dll and restarted the server, error still persists.
- When using MS Exchange within a windows domain should I be using the email address or domain user as teh SMTP Username?
- What are the relevant logs to review on the Joomla server to obtain more details regarding the error?
- Is there a a glaring issue I am missing?
Thanks in advance.
