I have the exact same issue mentioned here. Rather than create a new thread, I thought it would be better to add content to this one. I'm new to Bitnami, as well as to Open edX. I created a new Open edX VM using Bitnami. Once that was created, I opened the Bitnami Launchpad where I could see my VM running. I clicked on Go to Administration to modify the example course that is included in the setup. In the course editor, I did the following in the Advanced Settings page:
- Added "lti_consumer" to the Advanced Module List, as described here.
- In the LTI Passports section, I entered a passport that we are testing in the proper format (we're trying to add LTI Provider support to our product), as described here.
Once those were in place, I switched back to the editor for the lab's Content Outline. I added a new Subsection to the Introduction, and in that subsection I added a new Unit. Then I entered the Unit editor.
In the Unit editor, I clicked on the Advanced button and selected "LTI Consumer" from the list. Then I clicked on Edit to edit the LTI Consumer. I entered a description in the LTI Application Information field, the same id that I used in the passport in the LTI ID field, and the LTI launch url in the LTI URL field. I also changed the Inline Height field to 600. Then I clicked on Save.
At this point I saw the LTI URL I had entered seemed to work, and the LTI Provider was properly serving up content to the edX sample lab (LTI Consumer). Happy with this, I clicked on Publish to publish the changes, and then on View Live Version. This is where I see the following message:
"There has been a 500 error on the Your Platform Name Here servers. Please wait a few seconds and then reload the page. If the problem persists, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I think that covers everything that I did to get to this point. I have tried periodically over the past few days to see if time had anything to do with it but I get the same results.
Can someone please point me to troubleshooting steps that I can take to get to the bottom of this issue? I really need to get over this hurdle so that I can continue with my other LTI work ASAP.
