Installation Bitnami-Wampstack

Hi,
up till now i have been using bitnami-wampstack-7.2.22-0 on localhost
Today I installed bitnami-wampstack-8.0.1-0-windows-x64-installer.exe on localhost
After the installation, I transfer my website to the htdocs folder and installed mysql.

However, the browser only shows a blank page. I uninstalled bitnami and did a new installation, with the same result.
In the logs file there is:
[Mon Jan 25 14:42:23.958815 2021] [php:error] [pid 11208:tid 1136] [client 127.0.0.1:54265] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Undefined constant "MB_OVERLOAD_STRING" ........
VirtualProtect() failed [87] Falscher Parameter

Any suggestions for this problem?

Hi @ronnykock,

PHP 8 has stricter rules regarding undefined constants. You need to set MB_OVERLOAD_STRING before using it:

$MB_OVERLOAD_STRING = "value";

Thanks for the information.

I did some exercises without success.

Added to .htaccess: mb_overload_string = 0
The browser results in "Internal Server Error" and in error.log file: ".htaccess: Invalid command 'mb_overload_string', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration"
Added to php.ini: mb_overload_string = 0
Result: Same as above
Deleted in .htaccess mb_overload-string
Browser shows a blank page
Also tried "mbstring.func_overload = 0" in both .htaccess and php.ini without any result.

I have tried to make a fresh new Joomla installation and only receive a blank page and in the error.log file "PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Undefined constant "MB_OVERLOAD_STRING"

Any further suggestions would be very helpfull

Hi @ronnykock,

The error is due to PHP not accepting the way the MB_OVERLOAD_STRING constant is set somewhere in your PHP code. If PHP finds a reference to a constant that has not been previously set it will throw that error.

Which Joomla version did you install? Can you try the latest Xampp Joomla module version?

Hi Michiel,
The content of the website is created with Joomla 3.9.0 under PHP 7.2. I want to upgrade to PHP 8.0 keeping the complete content of the website.
I have made a new wamp installation and tried to install Joomla 3.9.24, resulting in a blank page. Joomla does not even start the installation process.
Xampp is not useable, because the provider only supports MySQL.

Hi @ronnykock,

I'm afraid Joomla 3.9.24 does not support PHP8.
