Increased Traffic, SSL and Cloudflare

Hello everyone,

I have been using GCP and Bitnami Wordpress Multisite for over a year now and I'm happy I switched from hostgator. This is a very helpful community and I'm glad to have found it!

Just to clarify, I'm not a IT specialist so please bear with me if you can

I have a web series festival on www.riowebfest.net.

It is hosted on GCP running Bitnami Wordpress Multisite and, next to the festival days on november, I have a LOT of traffic, which made me have to increase my VM from the free tier f1 micro to e1-standard-8. This increased my billing and I was wondering if I could take advantage of Cloudflare to avoid this extra charges this year.

Also, I'm using bncert tool and Really Simple SSL for my certificate.
If I change to Cloudflare, do I have to remove this certificate and plugin and make use of Cloudflare's?

Please point me in the right direction if I'm wrong.

Cloudflare uses its own certificate.
https://docs.bitnami.com/google/faq/administration/enable-ssl-cloudflare/

You should remove Really Simple SSL, and remove the renew line in your crontab.

Dear David, thanks for joining the conversation!

I understood there was no need for me to disable my bitnami SSL, because it was already installed (I read it here https://community.bitnami.com/t/how-to-use-set-bncert-tool-with-cloudflare/70613). Can you please confirm that info?

Also, do you believe that using cloudflare should help my website to handle more traffic?

Dear davidg, thank you for the reply and attention given to this matter.
As for the config on cloudflare, can you confirm that we should leave all sites on Full (Strict)?

Hello @leandro.charlotte,

Full SSL mode (Strict) provides encryption from end-users to Cloudflare and from Cloudflare to your origin server, so it is recommended to use this configuration. You could find previous cases on the community that may help you if you face issues. Also, feel free to open a new ticket if you require further attention with that.
