Thanks for the response.
Yes, pspell.so lib is present in /opt/bitnami/php/lib/php/extensions/ and I was using the same restart command as you have shown, ie I had restarted both Apache and PHP-FPM.
This time I executed the following command:
and got the response:
libaspell.so.15 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libaspell.so.15 (0x00007fb779132000)
libpspell.so.15 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpspell.so.15 (0x00007fb778f30000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00007fb778b91000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x00007fb77898d000)

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart
and the response was
/opt/bitnami/apache2/scripts/ctl.sh : httpd stopped
/opt/bitnami/php/scripts/ctl.sh : php-fpm stopped
/opt/bitnami/mysql/scripts/ctl.sh : mysql stopped
/opt/bitnami/mysql/scripts/ctl.sh : mysql started at port 3306
/opt/bitnami/php/scripts/ctl.sh : php-fpm started
/opt/bitnami/apache2/scripts/ctl.sh : httpd started at port 80
Unfortunately SMF still shows “Your server DOES NOT appear to have this set up.”
I have been doing a bit more research in the SMF community on this topic and the message from the developers is not encouraging. It would seem that this is a tricky feature to get working, uses a deprecated PHP feature and they would like to drop it altogether – although it does work in the version of SMF that I am using 2.0.15.
So whilst I am happy to keep trying things I will quite understand if you feel we have reached the end of the road.
