I Want To Change Default wp-login.php And wp-admin.php For Security Reasons

Keywords: WordPress - AWS - How to - Other
Description:
I want to change Default wp-admin.php and wp-login.php to my choice for security reasons.

I am using AWS Lightsail based on Wordpress Linux.

I also go through the documentation of bitnami, but I can’t understand.

I am new to this, please guide me step by step. Please attach the screenshots if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @PMWordpress

Thanks for using Bitnamo WordPress!

I might not have fully understood your question, but I assume you want to access those files to modify them. Is that right? WordPress’ files (including those you mentioned) are located under the /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/ folder :slightly_smiling_face:

Please let me know if that was not your intention, and in that case, tell me more about the final goal for modifying those files or the type of changes.

Best regards,
Jose Antonio Carmona

Hi Jose, Thanks for your reply.

I just want to change the default URL of login page, i.e.

/wp-login.php and /wp-admin.php

Just want to change the default URL/permalinks of login page.

As it will save my website from some set patterns of cyber attack/s.

I don’t know much more about sudo/wq!/q! etc. So please guide me step by step with command line/s.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @PMWordpress

The easiest way to do this is using some of the available plugins, such as WPS Hide Login.

You simply need to install the plugin and set the new URL you want to use:

Accessing the default http://MY-SITE/wp-admin/ URL will redirect to NOT FOUND:

Accessing the new http://MY-SITE/hidden/ URL will redirect to the login page:
