Description:
Hi, I have installed the bitnami wordpress multisite locally on my computer. (I also have Bitnami normal wordpress locally). Where do I find the multisite user name and password please? (My other bitnami/ wp passwords don’t work) I tried to download the bitnami diagnostic tool to see if it could help me but I can’t find where to do this to help me? I’m on a Mac. Thanks

Hi @louise1,

To find the credentials you need to:

  • Access the app’s terminal using the OSX manager window.

  • Then run the following command:

    cat ~/bitnami_credentials

Regards,
Michiel

hi Michiel, Thanks for your reply but I have tried that a few times and it says: No such file or directory

Hi @louise1,

That’s strange, did you open the terminal app using the OSX manager window? Can you check the contents of the /opt/bitnami/var/log/pre-start.log file. The credentials should also be there.

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel, Thanks for your reply. I opened Terminal via the Wordpressmultisite application dialogue box.
I typed in what you just sent ( /opt/bitnami/var/log/pre-start.log) into terminal and I got this back in terminal : zsh: no such file or directory: /opt/bitnami/var/log/pre-start.log

Hi @louise1,

You need to open the terminal of the VM, not of the Mac itself. The following guide shows how you can open it:

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/get-started-osx-vm/

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes I’ve tried a few times opening it from the terminal of the VM and putting in : sudo cat /home/bitnami/bitnami_credentials
and it comes back with “No such file or directory”

HI @louise1,

Can you send me the result of the following command:

ls -la ~

And:

ls -la /opt/bitnami

Regards,
Michiel

Hi @louise1,

You’re using the MacOS terminal, you need to open the VM’s terminal as described in step 1 of the guide:

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/get-started-osx-vm/#step-1-install-wordpress-using-the-bitnami-wordpress-os-x-vm

And then run this command (in the VM’s terminal):

cat ~/bitnami_credentials

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel,
I do follow the instructions and still get no such file or directory.
Is it because I have another version of wordpress bitnami on my machine but for single site not multisite?
Thanks,
Louise

When I open the VM’s terminal by going to the - General - Open Terminal
It then opens the Terminal and the icon appears in my dock. I then open that and paste the command in there.
Is there supposed to be another Terminal opening somewhere else?

Hi @louise1,

Can you send some screenshots or a screen recording of clicking on the Open Terminal button and the terminal opening?

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel, I’ll attach some screenshots now   Thanks again for your help.

elect - Open terminal.png…]()

Hi @louise1,

Can you go to Services and then click on Start? Then wait until everything has started and then try clicking on Open Terminal again?

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel, I did that again and it still comes back with: No such file or directory

Hi @louise1,

The terminal that should open is supposed to look like this:

Can you completely close the terminal application (right click the terminal Dock icon and click Quit) and try again?

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel,
I did that but I don’t get what you have in the screenshot above I get the same as I have previously.

Does it matter the site is at ? : http://192.168.64.4.nip.io
as previously my bitnami individual site (not multisite) didn’t have nip.io at the end?
Thanks again for your help,

Louise

Hi @louise1,

That doesn’t matter. Can you tell me which Mac (Intel or M1) and MacOS version you are using?

Regards,
Michiel

Hi Michiel,

It’s a MacBook Pro 8-Core Intel Core i9, running macOS 11.6. I am running the normal Bitnami Wordpress no problem. I just would like to get the multisite working if possible.
Thanks so much for helping with this
