How to upgrade AWS server to newest LAMP version

Keywords: LAMP/MAMP/WAMP - AWS - How to - Upgrade
Description:
Hello. I have a website running on an AWS instance installed with a LAMP package from Bitnami. I received an email from AWS that said: “We are writing to inform you that Bitnami has added a new version to LAMP Certified by Bitnami on AWS Marketplace.” It also says: "Bitnami does recommend you to update to the latest version, LAMP Certified by Bitnami/7.3.27-14-r12 on Debian 10 by visiting https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B072JNJZ5C."

I would like to know what steps I should follow to upgrade my instance with the new version. Also, I’m assuming this package includes the latest PHP version etc?

Thanks!

Hi @jprajza,

Yes, it contains the latest versions of all components.

First you need to launch a new instance with the latest Bitnami Lamp and then you need to migrate the data following the steps in this guide:

To backup and restore the database:

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/infrastructure/lamp/administration/backup-restore-mysql-mariadb/

To backup and restore the application:

Thanks very much!! I’ll try this out.
