How to reset root password of MariaDB

Hey, I just installed the latest Moodle Certified by Bitnami image tat now comes with MariaDB (the previous one had MySQL) and I can't reset the root password of my DB. I was trying it following this guide: https://docs.bitnami.com/google-templates/infrastructure/mariadb/administration/change-reset-password/ but doesn't work...

Hi @ply.srh,

I just launched a fresh Bitnami Moodle instance and restarted the MariaDB password after making some minor changes.

The data directory seems to not to be configured properly (/opt/bitnami/mariadb/data/data vs /opt/bitnami/mariadb/data). I'll notify our engineering team so future releases of the solution includes the information. You will need to include the "datadir" line in the MariaDB's configuration file (/opt/bitnami/mariadb/conf/my.cnf)

skip_name_resolve
explicit_defaults_for_timestamp
basedir=/opt/bitnami/mariadb
datadir=/opt/bitnami/mariadb/data/data
...

and then proceed with the commands in the guide. By the way, this is the one you need to follow

Quick question: Why did the stack change so much from the previous version of the image?

The week I used version 3.9.0-0 which had these packages:

Hi @ply.srh,

The technology we use to build those images changed and we can now track and report more packages to the Google platform. However, most of those packages were already included in the previous versions (we were not reporting them though).

That new technology introduces new changes. As you mentioned, there was a change in the directory structure and we are also working on moving all our solutions to MariaDB. That's why we also changed the database component.

The issue has now been solved and the file system should correspond with the data dir /opt/bitnami/mariadb/data. Thank you for reporting this!
