How to rebuild the redmine from Linux to Windows?

Keywords: Redmine - Windows - How to - Other
Description:
i want to rebuild the remine in WindowsServer, and restore all the data which store in the old redmine(ubuntu). Is there any SOP or spec which i can follow?
I found three steps, but not sure:

  1. backup&restore the mysql data;
  2. backup&restore files;
  3. backup&restore plugins;
    Can i copy the plugins directly to the Windows plugins folder?

BTW: as mentioned there(Where can i get the older version(2.5.2-2)?), the Windows redmine is 2.6.10-3 and Ubuntu redmine is 2.5.2-2.

Any suggestion is appreciated, and thank you very much.

i found some method here(https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/redmine/administration/backup-restore/), but it is not suitable for my situation. :slightly_frowning_face:

is there any config file that i should copy from old server to newer?
for example: LDAP setting
thx.

Hi @guohao1008,

It should be possible to restore a backup from Linux to Windows. Could you give more details?

Regards,
Michiel

thx for your reply, i got the 1045 error when mysqldump.
The config is here(database.yml):
production:
database:bitnami_redmine
host:127.0.0.1
username:bn_bitnami
password:“1234”
development:
database:redmine_development
host:localhost
username:root
password:""
test:
database:redmine_test
host:localhost
username:root
password:""

i try to dump data with “bn_bitnami&1234” and “root&”, but 1045 error.
here is my command line detail:
mysqldump -u bn_redmine -p"1234" --databases bitnami_redmine --add-drop-database > bitnami_redmine.sql
mysqldump -u root -p"" --databases bitnami_redmine --add-drop-database > bitnami_redmine.sql

Hao

i reset the root password as mentioned here(https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/redmine/administration/change-reset-password/#windows-111), but same error…

Hi @guohao1008,

Did you open the Bitnami console first:

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/how-to/understand-bnconsole/

Could you then execute this command:

mysqldump -u root -p bitnami_app > backup.sql

Regards,
Michiel

Thx, @michiel
yes, i execute the command you mentioned.
But access deny, 1045 error code.
Reset the root password, still 1045…
:slightly_frowning_face:

Hi @guohao1008,

Can you try to access mysql with the new password?

mysql -uroot -p

Regards,
Michiel

Hi, @michiel, thx for your reply.
Yes, i try to access mysql with “mysql” tool, but
“ERROR 1045(28000): Access denied for user ‘root’@localhost’…”
and i try with bn_bitnami user, and same error as above.

It is very strange that redmine works with “bn_bitnami” user, but i can’t login with same account.
Any idea is appreciated.

Hi @guohao1008,

Did you follow the exact steps described in this section?

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/redmine/administration/change-reset-password/#windows-1

Michiel

Hi @michiel
Thx for your reply, and i fond the root cause of this issue.
There are two mysql in my Linux.
I config the internal one, but dump data from the outer one by mistake.
Thank you all guys!
