How to point a Domain name ( like abc.com) to a site defined on a multi-site Wordpress AWS lightsail instance?

Keywords: WordPress Multisite - AWS - How to - Domain Name (DNS)
Description:
Guys,

Can you help me sort this technical issue out. I have a domain name registered (let’s say its www.abc.com) and I want to point this (via Route 53 on AWS) to one of my sites on a Bitnami multisite Wordpress instance (that I created using AWS Lightsail). I can’t seem to find any documentation on how to do this.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Hi @tonyod,

To point your domain to the right IP with Route53 you can use this guide:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/Route53/latest/DeveloperGuide/rrsets-working-with.html

If you have done that you need to configure WP multisite to use your domain:

https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/faq/configuration/configure-custom-domain/

Hope it helps,

Regards,
Michiel

Michiel,

Thanks for the reply, however, I’ve still got the problem of how to point www.abc.com to one of my multi-site web sites.

Fro example, at present I have two sites defined on the Bitnami Multisite WP instance. (The default blog site Site #1 and my new custom built Site #2). I can figure out how to point Route 53 to Site #1 using the static IP address I created on Route 53 and I can map this to www.abc.com, however I want this domain to point to the other multisite Site #2.

Any ideas on how to do this?

Tony

Hi @tonyod,

In that case you need to follow these steps for configuring the different domains:

https://docs.bitnami.com/general/apps/wordpress-multisite/configuration/configure-wordpress-multisite/
