Description:
Hi Team,
I am trying to get my head around setting this up for both or development sites and our production site (especially for the working production site with minimal downtime).
As I will be upgrading the production site from a M3.3 site to a M3.5.1 site. I want to be able to debug some of the issues we are having with Apple products not being able to log in using the Moodle Mobile app. so the first thing is to upgrade the site and have this HTTPS Support in place.
I am reading and looking at the links..
https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/moodle/#how-to-create-an-ssl-certificate
I do note that the link to
https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/how-to/generate-install-lets-encrypt-ssl/
leds to a redundant page, let's encrypt certificates are not supported?
I have gone in to their site to get a bit of info but there is nothing on a AWS\Bitnami setup that I can find.
Edits: found the page via a google search.. the above should be..
https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/how-to/generate-install-lets-encrypt-ssl/
At the moment I am not using a custom domain name for the actual Moodle platforms (but have set up a WordPress server with a custom domain name that is working fine under the HTTP -but also needs to go the HTTPS route.)
So to be expected at the moment it is looking like this for the moodle sites ..
http://*.bitnamiapp.com
Question 1:
As I am finding it is quicker and cleaner to:
Backup a full moodle site off bitnami\AWS
Shut the server down.
Boot up a new server with the latest Moodle version.
Load in the backup and reset things to suit.
the question is.. as I am using the *.bitnamiapp.com
I am having to change the server name on each upgrade. How can I keep this server name as a set server name?
I understand that there is "Dynamic" and "static" IP's and that we are charged more for the STATIC IP..
So if I understand right, I should be able to shut the server down and assign this static ip to the new server?
Question 2:
The quickest way to spin up a production server with the above Static IP and a HTTPS setup?
Any help would be appreciated as I am getting lost in the fields with this.
Is there a "paid" add-on Bitnami customer service option that could fast track this?
