I just deployed a bitnami diaspora instance as an EC2 cloud machine. So far it works and I can login to the server from the front and back ends with the ElasticIP that I've assigned to the instance.
Now I'm trying to apply the subdomain I've set up in godaddy to forward to the static ElasticIP, so that when I load the diaspora site I see my subdomain URL rather than the machine's IP. The subdomain I'm using is diaspora.arctian.org. The IP forwarding works great, but is not reflected once the site loads.
I tried updating the machine_hostname with the bnconfig script, but it doesn't seem to complete or have any effect. Here's the error:
./bnconfig --machine_hostname diaspora.arctian.org
Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly
Error running /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh start mysql > /dev/null 2>&1: child process exited abnormally
Any suggestions about how to proceed? And is there anything to do from the EC2 management console, or is it all going to happen inside the instance VM?
PS There is no post category for Diaspora. Maybe it's time for one?
