I had mysql running and used it for quite a while.

Since my disk ran out of space, I deleted all the binlog.**** files in the mysql data folder and configured that mysql should not use binary logs anymore.
Quite a mistake I assume; since now I can’t start mysql(d) anymore.

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction ?

Thank you all, i’ve been able to get it back up. I simply deleted all the content of my binlog.index file and restarted mysql. I hope this won’t come back to hunt me sometimes in the future ?

Hi @wales,

You should have purged the binlog files instead of deleting them.

If you started the database, you shouldn’t have more problems with the binlog configuration. In case you have any other problem in the future, you can take a look at the MySQL’s log to get more information about it.

Happy to help!
