Describe here your question/suggestion/issue (expected and actual results):
I have some image urls that contain special characters like %c2%ae
These render fine for normal browsing. However, I'm getting a lot of 404 errors reported on Google webmaster tools. Having performed various fetch and render exercises I can see that Google is seeing %c2%ae as %C2%AE which doesn't match the url and therefore produces the 404 error.
Is there a way to add a Rewrite rule that would rewrite any of these URLs to lower case in htaccess.conf or is there some other fix?
