First login attempt fail - local install

Keywords: RoundCube - Windows - Technical issue - Credentials
Description:
Hi,

I installed roundcube on windows 10 localy.
I cannot login to http://localhost:81/roundcube/?_task=login because the gmail account name and password is not good for it.
What is the default name/password?

Hi @duhay.daniel,

Thanks for using Bitnami. According to our guides, you should be able to log into the application with your Gmail credentials.

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/roundcube/get-started/first-steps/

Can you check the Apache logs for any error messages?

https://docs.bitnami.com/installer/apps/roundcube/troubleshooting/debug-errors-apache/

Yes, I find the info, but nothing.
It says, cannot connect to IMAP server.
The account name, password is good.
There is nothing In the error log, access log has this, when I try to login:
::1 - - [19/Mar/2021:12:58:55 +0100] “POST /roundcube/?_task=login HTTP/1.1” 401 2481

Hi @duhay.daniel,

Thanks for letting us know. Regarding the IMAP server message, can you check your firewall settings? You can also get more debug information on this with the configuration changes specified in the next post

Can you also check your Gmail account? Some configuration changes should be done to properly use it with third-party apps

https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/faq/troubleshooting/troubleshoot-smtp-gmail/

The firewall is off.
The MFA is on in my google account, but I made an app password.
Unfortunatelly, it is not working with Roundcube.
Maybe I don’t understand, how it works:

  • the installer “remember” the account/password from the registration (offline)
  • roundcube try to reach gmail and authenticate through it?

If the 1st, then the original password should work, but it isn’t.
It the 2nd, the app password should work, but it isn’t.
I can log in to my gmail account from the computer, our hmailserver works perfectly, but I cannot log into Roundcube. It is a clean install, nothing was changed.

Can you check it with the Roundcube developers?

No, you don’t need to provide any credential to the installer, you just need to use your own Gmail credentials to log into the application. It then tries to authenticate those credentials with Gmail services.

Ok, I will contact them, thanks!
