Hi, I have recently created a Lightsail instance on AWS using the Bitnami -> LAMP (PHP 7) 7.1.20-1 stack. I recently had a Lightsail instance become unreachable and so have been looking for solutions to ensure that if this were to happen again, I could recover my sites/data/databases etc. To that end I have done the following:
Installed/created the Lightsail instance as outlined above
Attached a new disk to the Lightsail instance and mounted it in the /mnt/resources directory
Ran /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop
MOVED the entire /opt/bitnami folder to that mount point
Created a sym link to the new location of bitnami
Ran /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh start
I have assumed that as the ctlscript.sh start command completed successfully that the symlink and move of the /opt/bitnami folder was successful. After completing the above process I installed webmin and modified the /etc/webmin/apache and /etc/webmin/mysql config files to point to the /opt/bitnami location. I reloaded the modules in Webmin and both the Apache and MySQL servers were now visible in the Webmin -> Servers menu. I created a test database which worked successfully, the database files were created on/in my mounted drive, once again proof that the symlink/configurations were/areworking
I have just tried to create a new vHosts file using the Apache Server interface in Webmin. It has returned the following error message:
Failed to create virtual server : The new virtual server was added to /opt/bitnami/apache2/conf/sites-available, but this file is not used by Apache.
I navigated to the /opt/bitnami/apache2/conf/sites-available file and the entry has indeed been created. It has also created the web directory in the correct location for my site.... I have run the apachectl configtest command and it returned Syntax OK, however when running the status test it has returned 95: lynx: not found.
Could you give me any insight as to WHY Apache would NOT be using the sites-available file?
Thank you for your time and patience
