Hello @lucasp,

The support tool output looks good, and I could see your logs and reach your site. Did you find issues running it again?

Sometimes it is good to stop the services before running the bnsupport:

sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh stop

Hi @davidg,

I tried again creating a new code:

d34e5170-e7d6-dbfe-0df5-ec386a865692

But the Bitnami site reject the code.

Hi @lucasp,

Thanks for the feedback, we will debug this issue.

In the meantime, could you share with us the main reason for your ticket so we can try to help?

Hi @davidg ,

Yes, i having a trouble with the binary log increasing too fast. Using “PURGE BINARY LOGS BEFORE NOW();” clear this disk space used but not solve the problem.

I tried the command “Show full processlist;” and i get a result of a user “event_scheduler” doing some strange behavior.

User: event_scheduler
Host: locahost
DB: NULL
Command: Daemon
Time: 30959
State: Waiting on empty queue
Info: NULL

I don’t know if this can be a problem and / or what’s is the problem.

Regards,
Lucas

Hello @lucasp,

We also have a guide to disable binary logs:
https://docs.bitnami.com/aws/infrastructure/mysql/troubleshooting/disable-binary-logging-mysql/

You could also install optimization plugins like the wp-optimize to improve the performance of the server
https://es.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/

Let me also share with your this similar cases:

Hi @davidg,

Yes i looked this posts but the solution in there is clear / purge logs or disable it and this not resolve the main problem.

I need to find what is the cause and try to fix it because can be a system problem, wordpress problem, plugin problems, brute force attacks, etc.

Regards,
Lucas

Hi @lucasp,

I’m sorry for the late response.

You are right, purging or disabling the binlogs won’t solve the root cause of the issue.

Using the binary mysqlbinlog to read the content of the binary logs may help determine the root cause of the problem.

Please give it a try and let us know if you need further help.

Hi @miruiz ,

Blocking some brute force attacks in wp-login.php, xmlrpc.php and blocking IPs the binary log has stopped to increase constantly.

I guess is a temporal win.

Lucas

Hi @lucasp,

I’m glad you were able to find and fix the root cause of the issue inside the MariaDB binlogs.

When it comes to security issues I’d say there are no permanent wins. We release our VMs with the latest security patches, but some applications may require some additional hardening.

I’d recommend having a look at the following links:

Additionally, I’d recommend monitoring MariaDB/MySQL logs to have a faster reaction in case of attack.

This topic might be a bit out of my scope, but if you need any further help please let us know.

Regards,
Miguel
