Enable MySQL-X on pre-configured Lightsail MySQL instance

Keywords: MySQL - AWS - Technical issue - Other
Description:
I’d like to use MySQL-X (https://dev.mysql.com/doc/x-devapi-userguide/en/) on a Lightsail instance. It requires port 33060 to be open. Is there any way to do this with the pre-configured Lightsail MySQL instances? By default only 3306 is open. I’m guessing it’s not an option, but thought I’d check.

Hi @websm,

Thanks for using Bitnami. You can open an additional port in your Lightsail instance following the official docs

https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/understanding-firewall-and-port-mappings-in-amazon-lightsail

According to the docs, MySQL X plugin is activated by default with MySQL 8.

https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/x-plugin.html

For other versions, like MySQL 5.7, additional steps may be needed. Please check the link below

https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/x-plugin.html

Thanks @gongomgra,

This instructions only apply to a Lightsail server instance. As far as I can tell, they don’t apply to a direct database instance.

Are those dedicated database instances created/managed by Bitnami, or are those direct through Lightsail and AWS?

Thanks,
@websm

Hi @websm,

If you are referring to the Amazon Lightsail managed databases, like the one mentioned in the next link, they are managed by the AWS team. You will need to ask them for help with your question

https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/amazon-lightsail-databases

HI @gongomgra,

Yes - those are the databases I’m referring to. And so I’ll work directly with AWS.

Thanks,
/nathan
