I'm running a standard LAMP stack for a custom PHP application being migrated from another system. I successfully translated the .htaccess files to htaccess.conf, but mod_rewrite is causing problems. Essentially, as soon as I call "RewriteEngine on", any pages affected by the htaccess segment returns a "Forbidden" page, even if no rules are provided. Other commands seemed to work fine - for instance, I applied htpasswd without any problems.
I replicated this in both the default /opt/bitnami/apache2/htdocs directory, as well as the /opt/bitnami/apps/.../htdocs directories suggested in the documentation for hosting multiple custom PHP applications. I'm really hoping this is just a boneheaded permissions issue or something, but I can't seem to figure out how to get past it.
