Short answer is no, the Bitnami catalog is for everyone. We have been doing it this way for +10 years and we have huge user base.
Inmutable deployments style is more adapted to anyone convinced to follow it, but it requires a mind shift compared to the tradicional mutable approach.
We all have grown curating our servers like a precious flower in spite that, as the time goes by, they fade and become unmaintainable and obsolete. With the inmutable approach the idea is to have a processes (manual or automated) to replace the flower at any moment with a new one. But I understand it requires a mentality change.
The level of automation (or no automation at all but documented processes) depends more on each person / team knowledge, conviction, time, budget, and service level they want to provide, than on being part of a large corporation.
Regarding the "cryptic" guides, some topics a more complex than others, but please give us your feedback about any of them because the documentation team is constantly improving them.
