I'm using GCP and the rails stack.
I'm trying to setup phpmyadmin and following these steps for virtual machine > mac I need to open a new SSH session to the server. problem is when I run the command I get the error
roboconnor33@rubystack-1-vm:~$ ssh -N -L 8888:127.0.0.1:80 firstname.lastname@example.org
Permission denied (publickey).
Before that step it notes to make sure I can login to the server over SSH and gives instructions on how to do that. If I follow those steps and run
ssh email@example.com it just gives the same error.
Not sure if there are more steps I need to follow for a public key but I do have a google_compute_engine.pub file and my_ssh_key.pub file so I know the public key files are there. Is there another step or have I missed something.
Maybe I dont have SSH enabled even though I have the keys. I tried following this for enabling SSH but get this error.
roboconnor33@rubystack-1-vm:~$ sudo mv /etc/init/ssh.conf.back /etc/init/ssh.conf
mv: cannot stat `/etc/init/ssh.conf.back': No such file or directory
Seems I'm missing something or having no luck, everything leads to an error or some sort. Can someone say what I might have missed when setting up SSH or if they know what causes that permission denied public key error. Maybe just say the steps for setting up SSH and getting the right keys and enabling it. if i do that and it doesn't work then it is something else causing the issue.
