IMPORTANT, please fill the questions
We assume you are using Bitnami to deploy your application.
Which version of the application are you using?:
Please choose how you got the application: Installer (Windows, Linux, macOS), cloud image (AWS, GCE, Azure, ...) or VM (VMDK, VBOX):
Windows, AWS recommended it to me in a documentation post.
Have you installed any plugin or modified any configuration file?:
I have not installed any plugins. I did modify the My.ini file inside the MySQL directory in hopes of getting what I want to work. I only commented out the "bind-address: 127.0.0.1" line (see explanation below).
Describe here your question/suggestion/issue (expected and actual results):
I am using an AWS EC2 Windows instance with the Bitnami WAMP stack installed.
Over the past 48 hours, I have been trying to configure everything for a project I am working on for my Senior Project class at my school. So far, I have been able to publicly access (not on the local machine, but from my main computer and my phone) the PHP server by going to /.php and I'm able to access a php file. I also set it up so I can do FTP remotely as well.
The last goal I am hoping to accomplish is being able to access the MySQL server remotely (on my host machine, NOT through the AWS virtual machine through PHPMyAdmin). I've read countless articles where it says to launch the MySQL command line tool and do a command like
/mysql -u root -p -e "grant all privileges on *.* to 'root'@'%' identified by 'PASSWORD' with grant option";
but that is not working. When ever I try to setup MySQL Workbench, it fails to connect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated here.
Thanks in advance!
